There are two major institutional players driving Gold Coast City tourism development, The Economic Development Branch of the Gold Coast City Council and Gold Coast Tourism, both playing distinctive roles.
The Economic Development Branch of the Gold Coast City Council
operates in conjunction with other tiers of Government, industry and community reference groups. Its primary concerns are industry development and strategic planning, policy, development issues and research to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of the Gold Coast as a leading Australian tourist destination.
Gold Coast Tourism is the region’s principle tourism marketing body. In partnership with members, industry and stakeholders, the organisation markets the Gold Coast to leisure and business tourists in international and domestic markets.
