Gold Coast Film

Australia’s Gold Coast is the perfect location for any production offering a pristine coastline, a lush hinterland, a modern city and world class studios.

City of Gold Coast is committed to developing and promoting the city’s film and television industry. We work in partnership with key industry stakeholders – Screen Australia, Ausfilm, Screen Queensland and Village Roadshow Studios - to showcase the Gold Coast’s film and television capabilities to domestic and international markets.

The Gold Coast has a long and proud tradition of film and television production. US productions filmed on the Gold Coast have a combined production budget of AU$1.7 billion and include: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Fool’s Gold, Nim’s Island, The House of Wax, Peter Pan, Ghost Ship, Scooby Doo and television series Terra Nova. Australian productions filmed here include The Railway Man, Bait 3D and Sanctum 3D.

The City of Gold Coast provides a one-stop-shop to support filming within the city, which includes a financial assistance package to eligible productions. This is unique for local government in Australia, and when eligible productions combine incentives provided through Screen Australia and Screen Queensland, this makes filming within the Gold Coast even more attractive. Free local knowledge and support is available through City of Gold Coast, which further supports your filming experience within the city.
