GC PIC Precincts
The Pacific Innovation Corridor (PIC) is one of Gold Coast City Council’s long term signature economic development programs. It comprises 9 geographic precincts of substantial economic activity that focus on specific valuable growth markets in the Gold Coast City economy. The Pacific Innovation Corridor precincts represent substantial aggregation of economic activity and are significant drivers of growth.
Objectives
The Pacific Innovation Corridor has two key objectives:
1. To create globally capable geographical and economic focused precincts. These areas are characterised by a critical mass of similar and related firms and by the availability and intensity of knowledge, research and development, innovation and extensive inter firm and international interaction.
2. To ensure that Gold Coast City is globally competitive in the availability, coverage, cost and capacity of telecommunications infrastructure and in the uptake and adoption of resulting technologies. This objective ensures that the hard ‘telecommunications’ infrastructure delivery is prioritised within Pacific Innovation Corridor precincts.

National and international reputation as a leading edge, world-class centre for
knowledge based research, development and innovative enterprises.
Supportive local government for economic development activities within the precincts and across the city.
Enhanced ability to understand and monitor business activity in each of the Pacific Innovation Corridor precincts, strengthening the city’s position to attract investment.
Strategies to achieve the PIC goal include:
Promoting the clustering of related firms and industry sectors within specific geographic precincts to enhance knowledge, research and development.
Ensuring that the Gold Coast is globally competitive in telecommunications infrastructure and the adoption of resulting technologies.

The role and function of each precinct and individual precinct projects support the geographic and cultural nature of these areas.
