Gold Coast City has a wealth of health and medical infrastructure and expertise. Six hospitals, both public and private, several day procedure centres and a large number of specialist clinics, provide specialist medical services to local and global markets.

The $1.8 billion Queensland Health Gold Coast University Hospital, due for completion in December 2012, will add significantly to the Gold Coast City health and medical industry capacity. A unique blend of clinical operations will be combined with teaching and research activity in conjunction with Griffith University and other core tenants of the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct (GCHKP).
